Reading Benedict XVI Eight Days Before an Election

I had occasion to read Benedict XVI's writings on liberation theology last week. The experience made me once again admire the late pontiff's generosity and intellectual brilliance while also thinking that these documents, published in the mid 1980s before he even rose to the papacy, have a certain contemporary relevance to evangelicals. So in lieu of a normal essay or review, I wanted to share some key excerpts from the first of these two documents. I expect that their relevance and utility for evangelicals will be apparent.
