What does it mean to confess that God is “one” but also, somehow, this one God is “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”? The opening words of the Nicene creed confess that “we believe in one God.” In episode two, we explore some of the backstory to that confession in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, which early Christians drew upon in confessing that God is “one” (Deuteronomy 6:4) while also confessing that somehow Jesus is worshipped and related to as within the identity of the “one” God of Israel (1 Corinthians 8:4).
