Have you ever wondered if Christian persecution really happens in America? Are you confused about how to respond when you are persecuted for your faith? In this episode, Alastair, Derek, and Matt finish their series of discussions on the Beatitudes. If you’ll recall, in the last episode, there was some disagreement as to whether being persecuted for righteousness’ sake and being persecuted for Jesus’ name’s sake are one beatitude or two. Can the guys come to an agreement? Find out in this exciting conclusion!

  1. Dear Mere Orthodoxy Podcasters Except Alastair,

You guys. I’m a homeschooling, sourdough baking, goat milking, tending my family sort of mom in rural Montana who happens to have a liberal arts degree and a voracious appetite for discussions about theology, politics, literature, society, etc.. I am very dependent upon podcasts to feed this appetite. And I prefer podcasts with guys, because IN GENERAL guys talk about the things I like to talk about. You all are always talking about something interesting, whether I agree with you or not. HOWEVER. Hear this in a big sisterly rebuke sort of way – I deal with bickering and snide remarks all day long. I have children in my life! Including a 13yo boy and all of his friends. And I used to teach middle school. I do not have the patience or inclination to deal with the same exact one-upping and bickering and competing and quite frankly silliness that Matt and Derek indulge in. I’ve had to shut off the two most recent episodes! I’m all about witty banter and sarcasm – take a page from some of my other podcast buddies, Carl and Todd, over at Mortification of Spin. Work on the well-timed zinger and some dry delivery, but please leave the uncomfortable digs and awkward moments involving your guests to your twitter feeds or zoom meetings. I want to enjoy your podcast! I am presumptuous enough to suspect that I am not alone in this, but if I’m outvoted by your merry band of followers, then I’ll be forced to listen to Ladybrains or the sourdough podcast. Sigh.

    Sincerely,
    Your Grouchiest Mom Podcast Fan

P.S. Do your wives ever listen to this podcast?
