Almost everything I wrote this year ran here at Mere O, either on the main site or here at Commonplaces. Here’s a link to everything I wrote on the main site. It’s been rather a busy year—I’ve written about 110,000 words on Mere O as well as 40,000 on a book that I’m running a little behind on for IVP. That’s come in addition to learning the ropes of being a full-time magazine editor (pinch me), which is something I only began to do on Mere O last January. Prior to 2022, I ran Mere O on the side while working marketing jobs, first for a marketing agency and then for a martech company. So it has been a full year, but God has been kind and faithful and my wife and I are hopeful about Mere O‘s prospects in the new year. So to those who subscribe or give, thank you.
The other big development for me this year has been a renewed sense of energy as I’ve been able to find some new conversation partners who have richly blessed me as I’ve tried to make sense of this moment. In particular, I’m deeply thankful for Mark Sayers, John Mark Comer, Peter Zeihan, and Ivan Illich, all of whom I’ve spent more time reading or listening to this year than any year prior. The impact of Sayers in particular will be clear to anyone who reads this blog.
I also wanted to briefly link the things I enjoyed working on the most this year from my own writing, so those will be linked below:
