The Interesting and The Humorous - Mere Orthodoxy | Christianity, Politics, and Culture

A week of night simulator rides has left my mind unable to do much more this Sunday afternoon than just take a nap (which I intend to do as soon as I post this).  So, rather than an attempt to say anything interesting, or even slightly humorous, I will direct you attention to something I found rather interesting and something I found incredibly humorous.

The Interesting

First of all, I’m sure many of you have heard of Project Gutenberg and their large collection of free e-texts.  Distributed Proofreaders was founded in 2000 to assist Project Gutenberg manage the large amount of work and volunteers needed to make the conversion of paper texts to electronic media successful.  I recently signed up as a volunteer proofreader and now spend a few minutes here and there proofreading various in-progress texts.  It’s a fun way to take a break from studying, and it supports a good cause; I’d recommend it to all of you bibliophiles out there.

The Humorous

Not sure if this Berlitz commercial  spoofing the German Coast Guard has been passed around the web much, but I found this to be one of the most hilarious and most creative commercials I have seen in a long time.  Go enjoy it…I’m enjoying my afternoon break from sinking.
