Rational Animals: Week Two

Written by Matthew Lee Anderson | Mar 10, 2006 6:48:56 AM

Victory at last.

Week Two: vs. The Magic Johnsons

Recap: By dictating the tempo of the game, Rational Animals took advantage of a newfound outside game to put away the Magic Johnsons. The Rational Animals built a semi-comfortable second half lead of seven, only to see it disappear through a series of defensive lapses and misguided passes. With six minutes left, the game turned into a dogfight. Rational Animals opened up a tied ballgame with 52 seconds left by hitting two consecutive unanswered three pointers that put the game away. It was closer than it should have been, but a good win for the Rational Animals all the same.

Matt's Line: Wind sprints and extra time shooting on Sunday afternoon helped not at all in another ugly game for me. I had several open looks that I managed to miss (a number were very close and felt very good) and also embarrasingly missed two free-throws. Not only that, but I failed to finish a number of put-backs. My lenten devotionals have been focusing on humility--I am learning it in every context imaginable. But the win felt good and I'll be back in the gym this weekend running more wind sprints to get in shape for next weeks game.
