Continuation of a theme: An Exercise in Humility.
Opponent: Mama’s Boys
Recap: A lackadaisical effort by yours truly at the beginning of the game allowed them to put us in an immediate 10-0 hole from which we never recovered. Two quick threes and a couple jumpers buried us–in my defense (which is admittedly thinner than my already too-thin arms!) our captain arrived late and we weren’t sure if we would play at all until 3 minutes before tip-off. This threw off warm-ups and consequently my mental readiness.
But the game was full of positives for us–Mama’s Boys killed us on second chance shots and three-pointers but we managed to keep the game close until the final four minutes when our energy ran out (did I mention Mama’s Boys beat last week’s team by 20?). Though we were missing two key players, we managed to play fairly good offense. We’re looking forward to a stronger showing our next game.
Matt’s line: four points on two good looking jumpers (and I nearly nailed a three–it rolled around the rim for a while before it fell off), a few dropped passes in the lane (I’m just not used to getting it down there), third degree burns on defense and not enough rebounds. Humility is endless.
