It's been a long, fascinating evening of Being, Becoming and 30 amazing people.
The Republic meta-thon turned in to a Timaeus/Republic metathon. You can read the Capn's summaries (as well as some of his personal reflections) here. I won't repeat them.
Needless to say, I'm tired and full of questions. My final (but poorly articulated) question of the evening: "Does knowing the Truth entail loving the Truth?" Is Being the sort of thing that once seen, is automatically loved? Or can it be seen and hated?
It's not clear Plato thinks seeing the Truth is possible--I am operating on the assumption that it must be revealed to be known. If revealed, will we necessarily love it?
The discussion was great. Hopefully I'll have more precise and clear thoughts tomorrow.
