I’ve enjoyed listening to Nick Flora’s latest EP, [Conversation Hearts](https://nickflora.bandcamp.com/?ref=mereorthodoxy.com), and [this song](https://nickflora.bandcamp.com/track/catch-me-up-to-speed?ref=mereorthodoxy.com) about falling in love in particular:

[Conversation Hearts by Nick Flora](http://nickflora.bandcamp.com/album/conversation-hearts?ref=mereorthodoxy.com)Nick talked on [the Future Conversation podcast](http://futureboy.podbean.com/e/episode-4a-catch-me-up-to-speed/?ref=mereorthodoxy.com) about trying to write songs on this EP about the more-neglected parts of love: the uncomfortable, difficult, or mundane aspect that are part of love’s daily reality for a lot of people.

The whole song, but particularly the outro/vamp lines, immediately bring to mind falling in love at first sight (“go on / tell me everything / because everything else can wait”). But as someone who will hopefully not ever fall in romantic love ever again, it’s a lot more meaningful to me to think about the experiences I’ve had in the last few years of becoming fast friends with someone who I can share so much with and enjoy their company so much in such a short time. Friendship-love is something that every human will get to experience (hopefully) far more often than romantic love, and whether or not Nick intended it this way, I love how this song captures that feeling.
