Okay, so the title is a little over the top. But there is good news for the Huckabee campaign today from the Washington Briefing.
While Huckabee lost the straw poll, he won the on-site voting 5/1. There were 488 people who voted for Huckabee at the conference (as opposed to online) while 99 voted for Romney.
That isn't a perfect measure of the people who attended the conference, as some people who attended the conference voted online. But it is a clear indication that for those who weren't previously on board the Romney campaign, Huckabee is their guy.
Which narrative is going to take hold--that Romney won the straw poll (by 30 votes) or that Huckabee beat him 5/1 among those at the event itself (this includes, I assume, the various people that Romney brought in specifically to support him on the site).
