I am grateful that [Professor (or is it Agent?) Smith took a little time to address some](http://firstthings.com/blogs/evangel/2010/01/desiring-the-kingdom-a-reply-to-anderson/?ref=mereorthodoxy.com) of the [concerns I raised regarding his excellent book.](http://firstthings.com/blogs/evangel/2010/01/desiring-the-kingdom-why-worldview-is-not-enough/?ref=mereorthodoxy.com) He would have been justified to take the route of Stanhope from Charles Williams’ [*Descent into Hell,* ](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0802812201?ie=UTF8&tag=mereorth-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0802812201&ref=mereorthodoxy.com)who, when asked about the meaning of his play, would only answer by reading it.

But that he did not is, I’m afraid, no excuse for the rest of us. He and I are in complete agreement [that the book must be read.](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0801035775?ie=UTF8&tag=mereorth-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0801035775&ref=mereorthodoxy.com)

As I have been ruminating on his reply all weekend, I thought I would offer a few remarks in response.

And just to make a brief note, I promise I won't keep linking to stuff over at Evangel...which means you should add it to your RSS reader, too.
