[A recent discussion](https://mereorthodoxy.com/index.php?paged=2) here at Mere-O ended with questions about the essence of evangelicalism. Enter Dr. Fred Sanders, theologian extraordinaire, who offers this dandy of a post on “[Emphatic Evangelicalism](http://www.scriptoriumdaily.com/middlebrow/archives/emphatic-evangelicalism/?ref=mereorthodoxy.com).” Dr. Sanders was a professor and remains a hero, so I’m predisposed to agree with everything he says, but in this case agreeing is easy: he captures the tension between what is essentially evangelical and the reduced evangelicalism that is so common and easy to criticize.
